Open Auditions

Open auditions for the 2010 season will take place on Sunday May 2, 2010 at the Reid Theatre, located in the Arts and Administration Buidling of Memorial University (off Elizabeth Avenue).

Information for Auditioners

  • To request an audition time, please email us at sbts@nfld.com - we'll reply to give you a time, usually within 48 hours
  • We suggest that you arrive early enough to fill out an audition form on which we'll ask for a little information about you and your schedule.
  • No preparation is necessary, as we will have readings available from the plays, but prepared readings of Shakespeare are always welcome also.
  • You will have an opportunity at the audition to indicate your preference (if any) if you wish to be considered for a particular play or role, or if there is any other capacity in which you would be interested in being involved with the Festival.  We also have room for volunteers in backstage and technical positions.
  • Rehearsals will be held on evenings and weekends around the work schedules of the participants, which we will expect everyone to give us a fair idea of at the auditions.
  • While all are welcome to audition, please note most opportunities are for those 19 years of age and older.
  • All auditioners will be contacted by the Festival within 7 days to notify them as to the outcome of their audition.
  • Those who accept an invitation to join the 2010 SBTS Company will be have the development opportunity to participate in special SBTS Company-only Voice and Text workshops led by Janine Pearson, Head of Voice and Coaching with the Stratford Festival of Canada, and Ian Watson, guest instructor also with the Stratford Festival of Canada.
  • In keeping with the spirit of our community-based organizational mandate, all acting positions with the Shakespeare By The Sea Festival are volunteer commitments.
